Paul B. Heynssens

             I turn new ideas into valuable property rights for my clients. I am a registered and experienced patent attorney, with a degree in electrical engineering. Assessing patentability questions, preparation and filing of patent applications, patent prosecution, patent portfolio management, infringement and validity issues, and dealing with U.S. and overseas patent offices have been an integral part of my practice since 1998.  I am experienced in patenting numerous technologies. 

             Prior to becoming an attorney I was a product design and development engineer, designing electronic circuits and systems.  I designed products for the telecommunications industry, mostly in the areas of cellular telephones and mobile radio communications.  I combine my engineering experience, with my legal skills to efficiently protect my client’s ideas in a way that meets my client’s business objectives. 

             In making patent protection decisions it is typical to balance issues such as cost effectiveness, breadth of coverage, speed of patent issuance, and others. I serve a variety of clients, including large corporate clients, small business entities, start ups, and individual inventors. They all have diverse and unique legal needs that I effectively serve based upon their individual needs.
